I’ve worked in education for 17 years and have spent much of that time teaching English and supporting young people both inside and outside the classroom. Alongside my teaching career, I’ve tutored for over 15 years and have worked as a WJEC examiner for GCSE English Language and English Literature, giving me a real insight into how students can achieve their full potential.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with students of all abilities and backgrounds, and one thing I’ve learned is that every learner is unique. What works for one student won’t necessarily work for another, which is why I feel so strongly about providing personalised support that meets individual needs.
Starting Seven Education gave me the opportunity to combine my experience as a teacher, Head of Year, tutor and examiner to help even more young people succeed. I’m passionate about building confidence, helping students discover a love of learning, and showing them that they are capable of achieving more than they often believe.
There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a student grow in confidence and begin to enjoy a subject they once found challenging. That’s what inspires me every day.
What I love most about teaching English is helping students find their own voice and confidence. English isn’t just about passing exams, it’s about communication, creativity and understanding the world around us.
I enjoy helping students break down texts, explore different ideas and develop their writing skills in a way that feels accessible and achievable. One of my favourite moments is seeing a student realise they can analyse a challenging text or produce a piece of writing they’re genuinely proud of.
Watching a student’s confidence grow and helping them achieve things they never thought possible is what makes teaching English so rewarding for me.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my two dogs, Lucy and Nala. Whether we’re out for walks or just relaxing together, they always keep life interesting and are a big part of my downtime.
I’m also a big believer in looking after my wellbeing, so you’ll often find me at yoga, Pilates or the gym. It’s the perfect way to switch off and recharge after a busy day.
When I’m not working or exercising, I love a bit of retail therapy and travelling. I enjoy making the most of every opportunity to explore new places and create special memories with family and friends.
I’ve worked in education for 17 years and have been teaching Maths for most of that time. I’ve spent 15 years in mainstream schools, four years teaching online, and have also tutored for 15 years, working both one-to-one and with small groups of students.
Over the years, I’ve worked with so many different young people, and one thing I’ve learned is that there’s no ‘one size fits all’ approach to education. Every child is different and sometimes they just need learning to be delivered in a way that works for them…
Our aim is to create a warm, engaging, and professional learning environment where every learner can achieve their full potential. If you’d like to find out more or discuss how we can support your learner’s future.
Please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.
